I'm pretty sure your citrine is actually heat treated amethyst

Dont feel too bad - apparently most ‘citrine’ out there is actually heat treated amethyst. Real citrine is relatively rare. It looks more like this (more lemon yellow than golden brown): http://www.minerals.net/gemstone/citrine.aspx?img=/RoughImage/3/9/Citrine.aspx

Thanks for this submission. I didn’t know that could be done! I love learning from my followers. Heat treating or metal treating doesn’t bother me, it’s really only unnatural dyes that get to me. At least it starts from amethyst, a member of the same quartz family. I still think my gift from my mom is beautiful and special.

Crazy Bones

should really be made of minerals. Like my Amethyst Eggy could totally knock over your Shattuckite Sharkey. Oh well. They’re not. But I am selling regular old plastic ones on my eBay shop. You could always pretend…..

cinnamonzen asked: So, I saw that you were able to help a follower with identifying a stone before, so I thought I might see if I can get the same help, myself.

It might not be oriented right (I’m not sure why it’s not…), but here’s a stone that I’ve wrapped into a pendant and I’m not quite sure what it is. The side with the yellow-brownish circle is the front, while the other bluish/purple-veiny side is the back. My only guess is Rainbow Obsidian, but it doesn’t quite fit what I know of that particular stone… any guesses?

Hey! Just a quick question, my friend got me this necklace in Honduras (I believe?) and I’m just curious as to what kind of stone this might be? (if it is a stone?) It scratches glass if that helps! :)
Thank you!

I usually leave it up to my followers to do identification. :)
