So, in Tuscon I found a small piece of black Tourmaline and an awesome Moldavite within 10 minutes of each other. I do not own any of either mineral. I felt like I shouldn’t take them because someone might come looking for them, but they were in spots I knew no one would find them again. I knew Moldavite was “extraterrestrial”, but didn’t know much, so I looked up more info about it. Here is an interesting page that has a range of info about Moldavite that says:
“It is thought that moldavite was created from the re-melted rock around the fall site of the meteorite and often the sites where it is found tends to be in a rounded or disc shape which could also lend to the idea that this is where a meteorite actually hit. Other areas where the moldavite have been found that don’t fit this description are thought to be a result of magma flying through the air or rock displaced during impact.”
It’s pretty awesome that this is formed from the impact of a meteorite. People that do get into metaphysical properties tend to share the idea that Moldavite has special properties due to it’s extraterrestrial creation. While I’m not sure how I feel about metaphysical aspects, I did discuss Moldavite with people I was on my trip with, and some stayed clear of Moldavite because of how powerful they felt it was in their experience. I read more about metaphysical aspects and one site suggested you pair Moldavite with……. wait for it……. BLACK TOURMALINE in order to ground it. (the other mineral I found a few minutes prior!!). Believe what you want, but I find that to be WILD.
