Only once have I “cut” a mineral. I hear it’s actually rubbing that “cuts” the rock/mineral and you need to have water flowing on the spinning wheel to help with the friction.
I go to Temple University and while I’m not a Geology major, I am in the Geology Club. Apparently in the basement of the science building there are a ton of minerals (I have yet to see this wonder) and I was given a piece of Azurite from the basement and I played around with cutting it open. I literally screamed when I saw the bright blue when it cut through the first time.
As far as growing goes, I’m not the person to ask!
