No, it would not. Naturally occurring rocks and minerals both form under certain conditions (relating to temperature and pressure!) and a hand sample is not in the type of setting that can cause mineral formation.
Generally speaking, once a rock or mineral is exposed, it begins to weather--break down. Quite the opposite of growing. :)
Also, glad to hear Temple has a Geology Club...I was hoping to start one at my university.
