chillblue-deactivated20120513 asked: Rocks are cut with a diamond saw. I used one for the first time about a month ago. But that is after you've removed the specimen from it's original source. As for how to remove it from that source, you need a rock hammer or possibly a chisel and sledge hammer if the rock is strong enough to withstand the rock hammer. Anyhow, after the specimen is loose, you take it to a table-saw looking device that has a diamond saw blade. The diamonds are obviously protected by a very soft layer of bronze--so if your fingers touch the "blade" you won't feel anything (it would be like touching the edge of a plate that has been worn down). And yes, a lot of water is involved or else the blade will get very hot. And well, that would be "no bueno." hehe

Thanks for this info! :)
